The proposed amendment to the Basic Health Care Provision Fund Act aims to increase funding allocation from one to two percent of the Consolidated Revenue Fund, a move that has received broad parliamentary support. This increase will revitalize primary healthcare centers, improve workforce capacity, expand access to medicines, and sustain immunization and maternal health programs nationwide. The legislature is dedicated to supporting the President's Renewed Hope Health Agenda, ensuring that more Nigerians benefit from accessible, quality healthcare without financial hardship. The Budget Ministry projects higher revenues, and local governments are committed to stronger community healthcare. Minister of Budget and National Planning, Abubakar Bagudu, highlighted the fiscal improvement under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which has enabled greater investments in key sectors like health, providing the foundation for sustainable development and improved social outcomes. Aminu Hassan, representing the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, emphasized the critical role of local councils in ensuring equitable access to healthcare across communities nationwide.
